Thank you for your interest in being part of The Open this year. We truly appreciate you and want this to be a win-win for both you and for us. Please read the information below to understand the process before you register. It should answer most of your questions. If you would like to participate in the Work Exchange Program, please complete and submit the form at the bottom of this page.

 WORK EXCHANGE PROCESS

  1. Complete the work exchange registration form on the bottom of this page. (Save the link that appears after submitting it, to update your information in case there is a change you need to make.)
  2. We will be scheduling work exchangers to work from Wednesday thru Sunday.
  3. The work exchange registration on the website will close on November 1st.

 

WORK IN EXCHANGE FOR PASS

  1. You will be committing to 8 – 10 hours in exchange for a ticket in open seating in a special staff section (semi-reserved).
  2. If you do not complete your assignments after you receive your wristband, you will be obligated to pay for your ticket.

 

TYPE OF VOLUNTEER WORK AND DESCRIPTIONS

  • Setup – Setup happens on Wednesday and Thursday. We need help putting up ballroom decorations and signage, as well as setting up registration, the competitor’s green room, and THE OPEN product booth. This requires physical lifting! You will be working with Nick Payton.
  • Registration – We need people who can make everyone feel welcome, are comfortable using a computer, can bring and use their own computer, are organized, and will adhere to procedures and answer questions – with a great smile! You will be working with Dani Mullin Darasz.
  • Security/Ushers – Door Security monitors proper wristbands for admission into the ballroom or workshops. Ushers assist people inside the ballroom such as: assist in finding seats. You will be working with Michael Eads.
  • Packing – We pack up the ballroom after awards on Sunday usually ending around 10:30pm. You will be working with Nick Payton.
  • Floor Sweepers – We need people who will sweep (quickly) the dance floor of costume debris for the Routine divisions. This requires wearing all black clothing (no tshirts or jeans). This is done in between each performance. You will be working with Michael Eads.
  • Floaters – Those people who need to pick up extra hours to fill in when people don’t show or when we are in need of extra help. You will be working with Michael Eads.
  • Event Runner – Scheduling may be “on call”. Are you available Wednesday & Thursday, have a good understanding of the area with reliable transportation and be able to handle multiple assignments? This job is for YOU!
