Video & Social Media Policy

VIDEO POLICY (INDIVIDUALS / PROFESSIONAL)

In 2025, The Open World Swing Dance Championships (“The Open”) will enforce the following video policy for all competitors and attendees:

  • No video recording is permitted during any Finals or Routine divisions.
  • Video recording is permitted only during Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing preliminaries and semifinals.
  • Anyone found recording in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the event without a refund.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY (PROFESSIONAL)

This policy applies to all Routine and Spotlight competitions:

  • Solo videos will be distributed by the end of the day on Monday following the event only if the performer consents to collaborate with The Open.
  • If collaboration is not agreed upon, the solo video will be distributed 25 days after the event concludes.
  • All performers who purchase the solo videos will receive both vertical and horizontal versions.

DEFINITION OF COLLABORATION

Collaborating with The Open on social media means that the performer agrees to:

  • Invite The Open’s official social media accounts as a collaborator when posting or sharing the provided solo video.
  • Allow The Open to collaborate or repost the performer’s video or related content on The Open’s official social media platforms for future event promotions.
  • Use any official event hashtags or tags requested by The Open (e.g., #TheOpen2025, #TheOpenSwingDanceChampionships).


This collaboration supports both the performer and The Open, increasing visibility and engagement within the dance community. Failure to uphold a confirmed collaboration agreement will result in disciplinary action.
